Koh Touch village: Koh Rong's busy harbour

Koh Touch is Koh Rong's main village and ferry hub, packed with guesthouses, restaurants, dive shops and bars. Here's what to expect and how to make the most of it.

In this guide

Koh Touch, sometimes spelled Koh Toch or Koh Tui, is where most visitors first set foot on Koh Rong. The ferries dock at its pier, and the village behind the beach is the island's busiest place, with a mix of Khmer homes, guesthouses, restaurants, bars and dive shops.

What it's like

Koh Touch is lively and compact. During the day, the beach is busy with boats, swimmers and people arriving from the mainland. In the evening, restaurants and bars light up along the sand and the narrow lanes behind it. It is the island's social hub and its practical centre.

Practical services

  • Ferries and boat trips: the main pier, ticket offices and tour operators.
  • Dive shops: for snorkelling trips and diving courses.
  • Shops and pharmacies: for basic supplies.
  • ATMs: there may be one or two, but they can run out of cash or stop working, so bring enough with you.
  • Clinics: basic medical help; serious cases go to the mainland.

Eating and drinking

Koh Touch has the widest choice of food on the island, from Khmer noodle soups and fried rice to seafood barbecues, pizza and burgers. Bars range from relaxed beach spots to late-night venues.

Where to stay

The village has many hostels and guesthouses, including budget dorms and private rooms. Staying here is convenient and social but can be noisy, especially at weekends and during events. For quieter nights, stay at Long Set or elsewhere and visit Koh Touch for meals and evenings out.

Things to do nearby

  • Walk to Long Set Beach or Police Beach.
  • Join a snorkelling or plankton boat trip.
  • Book a boat tour around the island or to nearby islets.

Respecting the village

Koh Touch is also a home for Cambodian families. Dress modestly away from the beach, keep noise down late at night near homes and avoid leaving rubbish. Ask before photographing people.

Tips

  • Bring earplugs if you're staying in the village.
  • Agree prices before taking motorbike taxis or boats.
  • Keep your belongings secure on the beach and in dorms.
