Business visas for Cambodia
Cambodia's ordinary (business) visa is the usual starting point for business travellers and longer stays. Here's how it works, how to apply and what to check.
In this guide
If you're travelling to Cambodia for business, meetings or work, or you plan to stay longer than a typical holiday, you'll usually need an ordinary visa, often called a business visa or E-class visa. Rules change, so always confirm details on official government websites before you travel.
Tourist vs business visa
- Tourist visa: for holidays. It can usually be extended only once and for a limited time.
- Ordinary (business) visa: for business, work and longer stays. It can be extended into longer-term visas, such as business, retirement, student or job-seeking extensions.
How to get one
- E-visa: many nationalities can apply online through the official Cambodian e-visa website. Use only the official site; lookalike websites charge extra fees.
- On arrival: at international airports and some land borders.
- Embassies: Cambodian embassies and consulates abroad.
What you'll need
- A passport with sufficient validity (commonly at least six months) and blank pages.
- A passport photo, if applying on arrival.
- The visa fee.
- Supporting documents in some cases, such as an invitation letter.
Validity
The initial ordinary visa is usually valid for a short period, such as 30 days. You can then apply for extensions within Cambodia.
Extensions
Extensions of various lengths are available for business, job seeking, retirement and study purposes. Longer business extensions may require proof of employment and a work permit. Agents can help with paperwork, but make sure they are reputable.
Working legally
A business visa alone doesn't necessarily allow you to work. Foreigners working in Cambodia generally need a work permit. Check requirements with your employer and official sources.
Tips
- Check rules before you travel; they change.
- Keep copies of your passport, visa and extension documents.
- Don't overstay; penalties apply.
- Use reputable agents if you need help.

Many nationalities can apply for an ordinary (business) e-visa through the official website. Check eligibility and accepted entry points before you apply.
