Motherland: Fort Salem, Season 1

This show is amazing, the world the characters and the concept are great. I recommend this show to anyone who wants to see strong women who are complex.

This show is so great!

Once you start watching you will not want to stop, you will meet the characters from the start, and when the ep 1 finishes you will be a fan of this show. Without mentioning the cast that is top tier. Good job Freeform.

I eagerly await my next fix of this very awesome show! Love the show intro every time with it’s alternate history timeline. The fact that the importance of blood familial lines are matriarchal and not patriarchal is intriguing.

I really enjoy the world and the story that is Motherland: Fort Salem. I in fact like it so much I could write pages and pages of praise and critiques on the story they have crafted thus far, but I do not wish to go down that rabbit hole nor do I have the time and energy. So… In summary, I enjoy Motherland: Fort Salem not because it is on the same caliber as writing and acting of Downton Abbey, but that it introduces important topics such as nationalism, creating and maintaining healthy relationships, and what it means to be free in what feel like a new way by creating a well-crafted world that feels believable. ** edited I retract my statement, this writing and acting is on par with Downton, just a different genre

This show is incredible. Men won’t like it because they aren't necessary to the story, they exist as boyfriends and fathers and that’s about it. If you’ve ever watched a movie and been sick of women always being cast as the girlfriend or the MPDG or the hot chick just for eye candy or to feed the male leads ego this show is for you. It’s made by women for women. The main romance on the show is a lesbian romance and it’s the most authentic and realistic portrayal of two women in love that I’ve seen in a long time. We never get lesbian relationships as the main story like this so that’s pretty amazing. They really sell that connection and it’s so beautiful. This show has so much going on I don’t even know where to start. This show is about women’s liberation and empowerment it’s about the lineage of mothers and daughters, and if you don’t have that it’s about sisterhood within your female friendships and found family. I want 10 seasons.

Look, its good! Can it be a touch over the top with girly girl power, sure. Having said that, I think it is still very good. I find myself very interested to watch the upcoming episodes. A new interesting twist on American history. It's a new interesting concept on a alternate reality, and i like it. There is also some subtle mystery here, like with the General. What is it with her posse of old granny body guards, why does she get to live for virtually ever and her fellow soldiers have to sacrifice their youth for her? Something going there and i would like to find the answer! And the Spree are a creepy enemy, for sure.

I watch shows all the time, but Motherland is one of my favorites to date! I rarely write reviews, but I love the writing and actors, as well as the supernatural grit conveyed, as well as the depth of the characters. You get a little bit of each genre every time you watch, for example: action, romance, supernatural, adventure and war to just name a few. I look forward to watching every week, and hope for many more episodes and seasons to come!!!
